The ADAC SimExpo 2023 GT500 will feature a Safety Car. The iRacing Safety Car system will be used.
The Safety Car will be called out entirely at the discretion of Race Control. The purpose of the Safety Car is to neutralize the race temporarily in the event of a significant crash that involves multiple cars or poses risk for further incidents on track if the race is not neutralized quickly.
Drivers must follow the commands given by iRacing during the Safety Car period.
Wave-arounds will only be given to lapped cars if the leader comes into the pits and there are lapped cars in-between the Safety Car and the new leader. Any lapped cars that are behind cars on the lead lap will not be given wave-arounds during Safety Car periods.
Important Notice: Penalties cannot be served during the Safety Car procedure. This applies to all forms of penalty. Any team who serves a penalty during Safety Car procedure will be made to serve the penalty again in full once racing resumes.
The ADAC SimExpo 2023 GT500 regulations allow for time penalties to be issued to competitors by the Stewards if found at fault for incidents.
