Sim racing is a unique environment, which brings an accessibility to motorsports that’s different from anywhere else. With the expense of motorsport, sim-racing provides an environment to teach people the fundamentals of racecraft, car setup and motorsports competition in an approachable way.
In the last two years through the global pandemic, more motorsports brands have been approaching sim-racing as way to engage with fans, as well as providing a platform for more fans to using sim racing to enter and understand more about the industry, especially for under-represented groups through e-sports as a way to compete on a more level playing-field.
On February 19th, 2022, the SimGrid will be supporting the ‘Driven by Diversity Cup’, a single day Assetto Corsa Competizione GT3 event, designed to invite drivers from across sim racing to compete in a two-hour endurance race around the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.
This event will have a maximum of 40 entrants, allowing drivers to solo or have 2 drivers per car.
For this event, there will be no entry fee.
There will be an opportunity to donate to one of our event partners, ‘Driven by Diversity’, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing motorsports engagement to under-represented groups and providing opportunities for career development within the motorsport industry.
The event will be broadcast on Twitch and YouTube on February 19th with live commentary and stewarding.
