Positive Perception GT3 Season 11
Rules and Procedures
General Format
The PosPerGT3 season 11 is a 6 round series using any generation of GT3 cars available from Assetto Corsa Competizione. Custom liveries are accepted and encouraged! Details for each round will be posted ahead of time.
We welcome drivers of all ability levels to the PosPerGT3 league, be it your first time, or an experienced racer, there is always someone to race against. There are categories for Pro/Silver/Am this season, these are filled with results from previous seasons. If you’re new, please contact an admin.
Race Events:
Round 1 - 18/04 - Kyalami - 1x60min (no mandatory stop)
Round 2 - 02/05 - Paul Ricard - 1x60min (mandatory F stop)
Round 3 - 16/05 - Imola - 1x60min (mandatory T & F stop)
Round 4 - 06/06 - Indianapolis - 1x60min (mandatory F stop)
Round 5 - 20/06 - Redbull Ring - 1x60min (mandatory T stop)
Round 6 - 04/07 - Donington Park - 1x90min (2x mandatory stop T or F)
NB: For events that feature only a tyre stop, fuel will be locked (ie. none can be added at pitstop). For events that are mandatory fuel, you are able to take tyres if you wish and 1L of fuel is the minimum to clear the pitstop.
GeneralRules:
1) Only cars from the GT3 class in Assetto Corsa Competizione are available for this championship.
2) Should you wish to change cars, you will automatically face a 50 point deduction (in both overall and category points). You are only permitted 1 car change per season.
3) Any car changes must be submitted at least 1 hour before the server start time.
4) Drivers who are unable to make a round MUST sign-out via SimGrid at least 1 hour before the start of the event.
5) There are no reserve lists for this season. Should drivers fail to "sign-out" before an event, their entries will be deleted and places offered to drivers with the relevant role in the PosPer Discord. We operate a 1 strike and you're out policy.
6) Drivers are allowed to “sign-out” for a maximum of 2 events over the course of a season
Categories
1) We will have split categories racing in the same events. Classed as PRO, SILVER & AM (classes to be amended depending on number of entries).
2) Previous season results will be used to determine your classification for the PPGT3 Season. If you’re new to racing, please contact an admin who will advise.
General Etiquette
Whilst “sim racing” isn't like real life motorsport in the way you can dive for a gap with no care as to the physical, or mental cost of such a move. We still expect drivers to adhere to certain “unwritten” rules regarding race etiquette.
If you gain a position through contact, we expect you to “redress” the position - We have heavily penalised drivers in the past for not adhering to this.
Any contact between cars is frowned upon. We love close racing, but “rubbing is racing” is not tolerated here.
Treat others how you would expect to be treated. Never expect someone just to “move over” because you have qualified out of your usual position. You’re all on track for the same reason, to have fun. Please try and remember that.
Please take extra care on lap one. We are pleased to have a big grid, but that results in a lot of bunching and a very busy first corner.
Stewarding
1) Stewards try to reach an unbiased and fair decision on all protests. Stewarding is usually performed by 3 members of the admin team, who give up time freely to do this, so we would ask you the drivers to thoroughly review any incidents before protesting and ensure you have looked at it in an unbiased manner. If you have any questions on the protest results, please contact one of the Admin team who will advise.
2) Stewards will review all protests and may review other incidents as they deem necessary. This may include the entire first lap.
Notes:
3) To ensure that irresponsible driving is penalised, the following penalties will be available to the Race Stewards.
Warning.
Race Licence Penalty Points
Race position Penalty (based on infringements in the race and applied to the current race)
Championship points deduction
Race Disqualification
Ballast Penalty – when possible in Sim
Race Ban
Championship Ban
Permanent Ban from Positive Perception
Some specific penalties to be aware of
2 Licence points per incident
Classified immediately behind the other driver and 1 licence point if you do not return the position as soon as safely possible (we take this very seriously!)
Each driver has a maximum 6 penalty points (which can carry through each season).
Penalty points will be removed from your licence, for every 2 consecutive incident free races you will have 2 penalty points deducted. This can be incident free races in any Positive Perception organised race.
Fun events outside of the PosPerGT3 season 10 can contribute to “Clean” races, but will not count towards Race Bans.
Protest Format
1) Protest forms will be available in the #protest-form-all-events channel in discord. It is the responsibility of the drivers to submit a protest form and to do so with the correct information, submitting a form with incorrect information may result in the incident not being reviewed. (Please make this as easy as possible for the Steward Team).
2) All protests need to be submitted within 24 hours after the event completion. Competitors will be required to identify the time, place, competitors involved, the nature of the protest and where they believe it does not fall in line with the race rules or race etiquette.
3) Before you protest, have you reviewed the incident in a calm and measured manner? Have you reviewed the incident properly and from both drivers' points of view? Could you have done anything differently? Ultimately did the incident cause you to lose positions, or affect your race significantly?
Blue Flags
1) Slower cars should always stay on their racing line when being lapped; it is the faster cars responsibility to ensure a clean and safe pass is made. Any contact during a 'lapping" overtake, will be looked at by the stewards if reported.
2) Blue flags should not be ignored. If you find yourself as the slower car that is being lapped, you should allow the faster car through at the earliest and safest opportunity and within one lap. Make your driving as predictable as possible to allow safe moving of the faster car, i.e. no abnormal movements whilst driving.
Racing Rules
1) Qualifying - Please leave enough room to have a safe qualifying session. If the car behind is on a "hot lap" and you are not, pull off the racing line (preferably on a straight) so as not to ruin a driver's lap. If both cars are on a hotlap, please back off and go again with a bigger gap.
a) Any drivers found to have deliberately failed to set a qualifying time (ie. to do a last to first challenge) will have a drive through penalty OR a SG30 penalty (pit lane length dependant) applied before the start of the race.
b) On the first out lap, please do not overtake other cars unless it is VERY obvious they are letting you by. There is usually bunching at the end of the lap as people try to find space to qualify cleanly
2) Pits are open for repairs at all times and races will feature varying mandatory pit options for either fuel, tyres or both depending on the round.
3) Obey the pit entry and exit lines, as well as the speed limit on pit road.
4) It is the drivers responsibility to know (in advance) which races require Tyres, Fuel or both in the races with pit stops.
5) Text chat via the in-game box is not allowed during any session until all cars have finished. Use of this may result in a penalty, either during the session or retrospectively applied. If in doubt, wait until an admin has messaged first.
7) Weather settings will be released before each round to give drivers ample time to prepare for the coming races.
The Practice server will always use the same values.
The Practice server will have two 90 min sessions added. One for Q time, one for race time.
8) The game will handle all penalties regarding start procedure, cut tracks and pit speed infringements. These will not be cleared by the admin.
9) Start procedure will consist of one warm up lap that the game will simulate.
Server Settings
1) The practise server is the same as the race server and the conditions will be accurate when entrants go on to practise.
2) Entry list is enabled, if you haven’t signed up - you won’t be able to enter the server
3) The server will be LOCKED after qualifying has ended and the game has "rolled over" to the grid for the race. You will NOT be able to enter the server once it has "rolled over".
Custom Liveries
We work in partnership with Awesome Sim Racing (ASR) for the provision and distribution of custom liveries from PPGT(6) effective indefinitely. This tool has been selected to ease the process for both those uploading liveries and those wanting to download liveries for their benefit.
Liveries are to be uploaded into the ASR website (these are centrally available for other communities partnered with them) and uploaded to the relevant PosPer league you are participating in. A list of these “collections” can be found here. Should you have any questions on this process, please contact a PosPer Admin, or ASR directly who can provide additional guidance.
Liveries will be visible on the live broadcast referenced below so please refrain from running liveries with any explicit graphics, language or connotations.
PPGT - Points Scoring
1st - 30
2nd - 26
3rd - 24
4th - 22
5th - 20
6th - 19…
… 25th - 1
The championship scores will be decided from your best “rounds” (as opposed to previous seasons) and your best 5 rounds will count. Any ties will be decided by whomever scored the best round score first, then highest qualifying average. Points are awarded for both “OVERALL” as well as “PRO/SIL/AM” categories.
Broadcasting
PPGT3 season 11 will be not live streamed on the Positive Perception YouTube channel.
Footnotes
We would like everyone to have joined the server BEFORE qualifying starts, this is to decrease the lag spikes we occasionally get with custom liveries.
Running the liveries is entirely your choice. When someone joins and they have a custom livery (created outside the game) and you have the liveries installed, you WILL get a lag spike. There is nothing we can do about it. The safest option, if you don't wish to get lag spikes, is to NOT run the liveries, but where's the fun in that!
If someone joins during Q and causes a lag spike issue, they may be penalised.
After Q ends, there will be a 5 minute break for comfort and car prep ahead of 60 min races.
