2.0 Event Structure
2.1 Each event will take place within a 6 week period. Each 6 week period is called a “Season”. All practice, qualifying, and races will be held on the Saturday of each week.
2.2 Each season will contain a total of 6 race events, each held at a different track.
2.3 Every Saturday, a 60 minute practice session will begin at 12:00pm Eastern Standard Time, followed by a 10 minute, 3 lap, lone qualifying session at 1:00. At 1:15 drivers will join a mandatory drivers briefing in the P1 Discord. Finally at 1:30 the main race will be held.
2.4 During each race a points and rankings system will be utilized to calculate the top performers. At the end of each season, monetary rewards will be given to the top 5 finishers will receive a monetary reward.
3.1 Race Starts: All drivers must start from the grid. If you elect to not qualify you will be placed at the back of the grid based on iRacing’s system. Drivers are not allowed to start from the pits. Any drivers found to be starting the race from pit road, whether by accident or not, will be given a drive through penalty under green flag conditions. Repeated offenses will result in points penalties.
3.2 Cautions: Full course cautions may occur if Race Control deems any incidents dangerous enough to warrant one. Once a caution flag flies, slow down, maintain a safe distance and communicate any sudden stops or unsafe maneuvers. When local cautions occur, focus and be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. Cautions may be thrown by iRacing or race control depending on what happens on the track. Drivers are encouraged to announce incidents they see on track to race control in order to help properly call full course cautions.
3.3 Starts and Restarts: Upon starts and restarts, everyone goes on the leader. The leader isn’t required to accelerate at or before the green flag is waved. Restarts will be single file. It is expected that drivers do not overlap prior to green flags waving. If drivers are caught overlapping before the green flag, black flags will be issued.
3.4 Finishes: After the checkered flag, each driver must safely return their cars to their respective pit boxes. Please do not cause incidents on the cooldown lap. Leader is allowed to celebrate past pit entrance on the cooldown lap. Failure to comply with this rule will result in points deductions, race win revoked, and/or race suspensions.
4.1 Protests: Incidents that drivers think were dangerous and caused by one or more parties have the right to protest the incident by following the protest system and format in the P1 Discord. If the incident is deemed dangerous enough, they can end in penalties that include, but are not limited to, time penalties post-race as well as points penalties. Protests shall be submitted to a race director via discord. A video clip being provided with the protest is highly encouraged, as it will give multiple perspectives to what the drivers have seen during the race. Please make sure to follow the format of the protest, which includes: the race the incident occurred in, the drivers involved, and the timestamp of the incident. All protests must be submitted within 24hrs of the race.
4.2 Penalties and Incidents: We want to keep our racing events as fair and enjoyable as possible. In doing so we will be utilizing iRacing’s incident tallying and zero fault scaling, at 17 incident points, iRacing will disqualify the subject.
iRacing assigns incident points at the following rates:
1x – Wheels off the racing surface
2x – Loss of control
2x – Contact with other object
4x – Heavy contact with another driver
All penalties for driver misconduct will be levied post race after conferral by the admin team. All penalty decisions are final.
Incidents between drivers will be categorized into 3 brackets:
Tier 1 - Car is solely responsible for a minor infringement.
Tier 2 - Car is solely responsible for a moderate infringement.
Tier 3 - Car is solely responsible for a major infringement.
These will come with 10/30/60 second post races as well as 1/5/10+ penalty points respectively.
Additionally there are miscellaneous penalties assigned for poor driving standards.
A - Improper rejoin of the racing surface.
B - Excessive Blocking / Weaving
C - Unsportsmanlike Actions
4.3 Warnings: Race Control will be looking at on track incidents to further penalize some of the more reckless or egregious cases that cause cautions and big collisions. Drivers may receive a warning if they are the sole cause of a caution. This may include but is not limited to; self spins, spinning or wrecking another car in a way that is worse than “it was a racing incident”, contact under yellow flag conditions and failure to slow down for cautions resulting in heavy car contact. We are not looking to prevent all car contact, however we want drivers to know there is a difference between hard racing and being reckless, and we hope the warning system will hold this line solid.
4.4 Intentional Wrecking: Intentional wrecking during the race will result in a driver being banned from P1 Simsport. Drivers will be susceptible to penalties, including exclusion from the series if they direct abuse to other drivers or stewards on the iRacing voice or text channels or on discord. Abuse could be in the form of racism, harassment, personal insults, inappropriate language and/or anything else the stewards deem to be unacceptable. Drivers may be given a warning before any further action takes place. If a driver is removed from the championship they will not have their entry fee refunded.
5.1 Cash Prizes: All drivers who finish within the top 5 places in the drivers championship will automatically be given cash rewards via their requested method of payment. Drivers will split the cash pool in decrements from 100% of the established amount. First place will receive 50%. Second place, 25%. Third place 12.5%. Fourth place, 7.5%. Fifth place 5%.
