Back in April, we tested drivers abilities to drive smoothly on their tyres and fuel save to the maximum with the Economy Challenge. The race was 80 minutes long at Kyalami, and in the top split, it was Jason Leurs (AKA BlackGoldSaw) who claimed victory in his Bentley Continental GT3.
But things have changed since then...
Due to the global pandemic and it's affect on the global economy, racing teams have to watch their budgets and cut costs so they can continue to operate, so for the SimGrid's Economy Challenge II, all participating drivers will now be limited to just ONE tyre set!
That singular tyre set has to cover the practice, the qualifying and the race. Not only that, drivers will have to fill their cars fuel tank to the brim, and fuel save to try and make the end of the race. The real question is, how many cars will actually make the chequered flag?!
The race will be 75 minutes long and held at Imola! Oh, and the AMR V8 Vantage and Bentley Contintental 2018 are not allowed!
There are only 4 splits available but with space for 40 cars in each split we could have up to 160 drivers racing in this event! However, you should act fast if you want to be one of them.
First-come-first-serve event. Register quickly to secure your space on the grid. Once the grid is full, you can register as a reserve driver and then take any available grid slots should a driver drop out or be absent.
The split and class you choose to race in is ultimately your decision, but we want to ensure that drivers are racing where they can be competitive and are of similar experience to those around them. A large gap in pace and experience can cause problems on track. We highly encourage drivers to choose their class and split carefully. Split 1 is generally home to the "aliens" and most experienced sim racers, those who are several seconds off "alien" pace or newer to ACC should start with the lower splits.
