Safety Car Procedure – ACC using Mumble

This procedure is only used during certain events and series.

Triggering the Safety Car

The Safety Car may be triggered by an incident on track and communicated to all drivers by Race Control via Mumble.

Race Control announces: "Yellow flag, no overtaking! Safety Car, Safety Car, Safety Car! Pit limiter engaged by all cars in 3-2-1 pit limiter engaged!"

Lead Car Becomes Safety Car

The lead car at the time of the Safety Car call automatically becomes the Safety Car.

The lead car must:

Turn on the pit limiter when instructed to do so and as safely as possible to control speed.

Race Control will Announce on Mumble: "Safety Car is car #."

Field Behaviour and Formation

All other cars must:

Engage their pit limiter when instructed to do so.

Race control may request cars following the lead car acting as the safety car to disengage thier pit limiter and to safely close any gaps to form a single file behind the Safety Car, maintaining a safe distance.

Overtaking is strictly prohibited during the safety car period and once all cars are in line following the lead car it is recommended that the pit limiter is re-engaged.

Lap Cars and Positioning

Lapped cars must remain in position and are not permitted to un-lap themselves unless instructed to do so via Race Control.

Race Control may instruct specific cars or lapped cars to change position if needed via Mumble, there may also be an announcement to request cars to stay on the left hand side of the track to allow space for lapped cars to unlap themselves on the right.

Pit Stops Under Safety Car

Pit stops are allowed under Safety Car conditions.

Rejoining cars must rejoin safely.

Restart Procedure

Race Control announces: "Safety Car period ending in 15 seconds...Safety Car period ending in 3-2-1...Green Green Green" or "Safety Car in this lap. Lead car is to control restart of the race, no overtaking until the start finish line"

The Safety Car (lead car) will control the pace using the pit limiter until the final corner, upon exiting the final corner, the Safety Car (lead car) can disengage the pit limiter and resume racing speed.

Overtaking is only permitted after crossing the start/finish line.

Race Control announces: "Safety Car period complete, race resumes."
