Cautions:
A full course caution will be called by the race director only after it has been determined that an incident qualifies for a caution according to the rules.
An incident will qualify for a full course caution only if all of the following are true; 1) two or more cars are involved in the same incident with contact. 2) one of those cars receives damage of any kind as a result of the same incident. 3) drivers clearly state that they have been involved in an incident with contact, and at least one driver states that they have damage as a result.
Example 1: A single car spins out and all other cars are able to avoid the spinning car. No caution will be called. If the spinning car makes contact with a barrier, curb, debris, etc, and is damaged as a result, there is still no caution because there was no contact with another car.
Example 2: A single car spins out and another car makes contact, with at least one car receiving damage, and both drivers state that they have been involved in an incident with damage. Caution will be called. All qualifications have been met and a full course yellow will be issued.
Example 3: A single car makes contact with a barrier and is damaged, then a second car spins in the same area of the track but does not make contact with the first car. No caution will be called. Even though there are two cars in this scenario, no contact was made between the two cars, therefore no caution is warranted.
If a caution is called, then the damaged car must pit. If an incident occurs and the damage is not severe enough to warrant a pit stop for repairs, then you should not request a caution.
Pit road is always open. If a car on the lead lap wishes to pit under caution, they may do so, but they may not pass any other cars also on the lead lap in order to gain an advantage by shortening their time in the pits relative to the other cars on track. Cars that choose to pit under caution will line up in the position that they are in when exiting the pits.
Lapped cars are allowed to get their laps back under caution if possible. Caution laps will not be extended or slowed in order to assist a driver trying to get back to the lead lap. Lapped cars must drive and pass in a safe manner. If a lapped cars spins or crashes while attempting to catch the lead pack, no additional laps will be added to the caution.
When the race director announces a caution, all cars should continue racing until they have reached the start / finish line, at which point they will slow down to a pace speed of 70mph and follow the pace car
Starts/Restarts
Drivers must maintain formation during the pace laps. The Start/Restart commences when the pace car leaves formation. The leader has from when the pace leaves formation to the start line to Go Green
Restarts will happen after three laps under caution, but the race director may choose to restart the race prior to the completion of these laps if all cars are grouped up and ready
Restarts will be double file with the leader on the inside line. Cars with an odd number race position will line up to the inside, with cars in an even number position in the outside line.
