Who we are and what we do!
For many affected by MS, the disease represents a profound change in their lives. Those affected need guidance and support to cope with their unique situation, as well as advocacy for their interests externally. The DMSG is committed to fulfilling these tasks both at the national and state level.
It serves as a support, advisory, and self-help organization for individuals with MS.
It is also an advocacy and professional association.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, care for people with MS is provided by specialists from the state association NRW in collaboration with self-help groups and local volunteers.
The DMSG state association NRW e.V. currently has around 100 branches and approximately 7,200 members, about 90% of whom are affected by multiple sclerosis. The state board, the state council, and the advisory board of contact groups are elected by the general assembly for a term of four years. All committee members work on a voluntary basis.
